The Snatch Push Press is a great Exercise for all athletes. It is a coordinated movement that takes into account the initial drive of the legs and the supporting strength of the upper body. In Weightlifting we use this exercise to strengthen the Overhead Position of the Snatch. In sports, like Football, we use it to develop leg and shoulder power and strength. Here 2014 University National Heavyweight Champion Cody King is performing it with 140 kilos for two reps. Rarely do we perform this movement over five repetitions. Ideal rep range for this movement is 1-5 reps with a weight that can be 110-120% of your best Snatch. If your percentage is greater than this you don’t need to keep pushing the weight. You have established enough strength now you need to work more on transferring that strength into the Snatch (more technical work).
