Becky Walker won the Junior Division of the 90 kilo weight class at the ASU Open. Becky has won every competition she has entered in 2017.
2017 National Junior Champion and Under 25 National Champion Becky Walker kept up her winning ways by taking home the Gold Medal at the 2017 Arizona State University Weightlifting Open Competition on Aug 26, 2017. This her third event that she has placed First in this year. Congrats!
2017 Junior National Weightlifting Champion in the 90 kilo class Becky Walker hitting a Hang Snatch from Above the Knee with 75 kilos for three consecutive reps. Notice the control that Becky demonstrates as she sets up for each rep. She doesn’t hastily rush into each rep. Becky sets her upper and lower back and lowers the bar with precision. These are very important attributes to have as a lifter.
Big congrats to two very special ladies,Tram Tran and Becky Walker. Both ladies lifted this past weekend at the 2017 University and Under 25 National Weightlifting Championships in Gainsville, Florida. This was Tram’s 2nd National Competition. She went three for three in the Snatch making 61, 64, & 66 kilos for a New Competition Personal Record. In the Clean and Jerk she missed 74, made 75, and missed 79 kilos (we’re still working on the Jerk). She finished with a 141 kilo Total and top of the B Session of the 58 kilo Class. Tram’s 66 kilo Snatch finished her 3rd in the University Division but due to an Administrative error was not awarded the 3rd place medal in the snatch at the time of the awards ceremony. She has been insured by USAW that the matter will be taken care of and she will receive her much earned 3rd place medal. We are very proud of Tram and all the hard work she has put into training for this event. Coach Joe believes that with more time Tram can compete on the Senior National Level very soon.
In the newly added 90 kilo class Becky Walker went 2 for 2 by wining the Under 25 National Weightlifting title to go along with her National Junior Championship she won earlier this year. Becky Snatched 79 kilos missed 81 twice. In the Clean and Jerk, Becky made 104, missed 108, and then made 108 on her third attempt finishing the day with a 187 Total. Becky is a rising star in the sport of Weightlifting and with time and support she can be wining medals at the Senior National Level and making Senior International Competitions within the next couple of years. All of us at Performance One are very proud of both ladies.
This past weekend we had 15 athletes from Performance One Advanced Sports Training Compete at the Junior Nationals held in Kansas City, MO. We are so proud of all of their hard work, attempts, hitting personal records, and we had a number who brought home medals. Kaija Bramwell took 2nd place in the Snatch, 2nd place in C&J, and 2nd place overall! Kolton Koontz took 3rd in the snatch, 2nd in the clean and jerk, and 2nd place overall. Dennis Tan took 3rd in the snatch and 3rd overall. Becky Walker placed 3rd in snatch, 1st in the clean and jerk, took 1st place overall. Becky was the first ever to become a junior national winner in that weight class of 90 kilos! Coach Joe Micela and all the Performance One coaching staff had a great trip coaching the team and are impressed by the results of each individual athlete. Now back to training to reach our next goals!
