Joe Micela 
Owner & Director of Sports Performance

Joe Micela is a renowned coach and owner of Performance One Advanced Sports Training, which he founded in 2000. He is a passionate and dedicated coach who is committed to the development of superior athletes. Joe has trained athletes at the high school, collegiate, and Olympic levels, and his mission is to contribute his knowledge, enthusiasm, and experience to their success.

Born in South Philadelphia and raised in Southern New Jersey, Joe has a strong background in sports. He wrestled at Rutgers University and Arizona State University, where he also graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science and Physical Education. During his time at ASU, he served as the undergrad strength and conditioning coach for the collegiate teams and later as the interim head strength and conditioning coach at Northern Arizona University.

Joe's impressive titles include being a USA Weightlifting Senior International Coach and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. He has received numerous accolades, including being named the 2008 Developmental Coach of the Year from the United States Olympic Committee, representing the sport of weightlifting. In 2009, he was the assistant coach for the Men and Women's Senior World Team, and in 2010, he coached two athletes to the Senior World Championships.
In 2011, Joe guided the Women's World Team to solidify two female slots for the 2012 Olympics, and in 2012, he coached four-time national champion Sarah Robles to the 2012 Olympics. He was also the head strength and conditioning coach for the Arizona Rattlers Arena Football Team for the 2018-2020 seasons.
Joe Micela's dedication to his craft and his athletes is evident in his accomplishments and the success of his clients. He continues to inspire and develop athletes to achieve their full potential through his knowledge, expertise, and passion for sports performance training.

Jessica Walters
Director of Developmental Weightlifting

Jessica joined Performance One in 2014 as a Master's weightlifter and now serves as the head coach for our weightlifting class, which prepares athletes for our competitive program.

​

With over eight years of experience as an athlete at Performance One, Jess has been certified with USA Weightlifting since 2016 and currently competes at the national level. She holds a 3rd Degree Blackbelt, is a CrossFit Level-2 Coach, NASM-CPT, and a Certified Nutrition Coach.

​

Jess is passionate about inspiring people to discover their inner athlete through the sport of Olympic Weightlifting, discipline and persistence.

Lindsay Perrizo 
Director of Youth Athletic Development

Lindsay joined Performance One in 2018 as a Strength & Conditioning intern and has since grown into a vital member of our team, excelling both as a coach and an athlete. She is now a Master's National Olympic Weightlifting Medalist and serves as the director and coach of our Youth Strength & Conditioning Program. Her goal is to help young athletes build a strong athletic foundation, drawing on the extensive knowledge and philosophy she has gained through her training and coaching at Performance One.

Lindsay holds a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and is a certified personal trainer and nutritionist through NASM. As a mother of two young athletes, she has a personal understanding of what it takes to guide young athletes in starting their athletic journeys on the right path.

Nate Cerwinske 
Assistant Manager & Coach

Nate started at Performance One as a Weightlifter back in High School during 2016. Since then he has medaled at Multiple National Competitions on every level nationally and has made 2 Junior Pan Am and 1  Junior World Team. 

​

He has found an interest in spreading the knowledge and expertise of Olympic Weightlifting, Strength & Conditioning, and aspects of high level competition to younger and developing athletes that he has gained through his athletic journey and training under Coach Micela.
